PCDJ 5.3 Red

PCDJ Red 5.3 is a very old DJ software that works on a PC that does not require any other software. You can operate it stand alone or operate it with simple sound interface cards. However because it was created many many years ago before the turn of the century, it does have a time lock which evokes a limit based on a date. After that date the software does not operate properly. Running this version on Windows 10 is difficult unless you follow this guide.

A few items to know.

• Time Lock prevents the software to operate normally.
• If you operate this software on Windows 10 you must disable UAC
• If you operate this software on Windows 10 you must run in Windows XP SP2 Compatible mode.
• Always run in Admin mode. The above configurations will ensure the software runs properly as it did years ago when it was invented.

Installation Instructions to run in Windows 10

1. Unzip your package and double click the file PCDJred53.exe and complete the installation.
2. Go to the desktop shortcut and right click then choose Properties.
3. Then click the Compatibility tab. In the Compatibility mode section click the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for. Then click the drop down menu and choose Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
4. On the same screen click the box next to Run this program as an administrator. Then click OK to save the settings.
5. Start the PCDJ program by clicking the shortcut you just configured. When the program opens for the first time it will ask you to enter the registration ID number. When that is finished, it will ask you to scan your computer for music files. Choose no then close the program.

The next step is to set up the program that turns back the clock so the time lock is ineffective. 

1.  Download Cracklock from here https://download.cnet.com/Cracklock/3000-2094_4-10798254.html 
2. Install Cracklock and run it. The Cracklock manager will open. On the screen click Add Program, then add the program application, C:Program Files (x86)\Visiosonic\PCDJ Red\pcdjred.exe      
3. Once added , right click the PCDJ Red icon in the Cracklock Manager and click Configure. When the Calendar opens choose the year 2000. Everything remains the same. Go to the Injection mode tab, and click the link that says Click here to create a shortcut on the desktop. Then click Ok.

At this point the program is ready to run. Next you have to disable the UAC on Windows 10. Otherwise drag and drop wont work. 

Disable UAC in windows registry
It is possible to turn off UAC using the Registry Editor.

1. Open Windows Registry : Start > run> type regedit
   1. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
   2. If you do not have such a Registry key, then just create it.
   3. In the right pane, modify the value of the EnableLUA DWORD value to 0:
   4. If you do not have this DWORD value, then create it.
2. Restart your computer.

Once the computer restarts go ahead and start PCDJ.
